Soothplayers takes the idea of citizen science in a new, and we think, interesting direction, leveraging the fact that people love to make and read predictions to get them to spend more time learning science.

The concept: Each week, a series of "challenges" is posted on the site, i.e. multiple choice questions asking users to make small predictions about the future in a variety of scientific categories (e.g. environment, space, technology, biology, physics, commerce).

Sample challenges:

. How many category 4 or higher hurricanes will reach US shores this year? (none, 1-2, 3-4, 5 or more)

How many different kinds of animals will be cloned in the next twelve months?

Will the Dow Jones industrial average be above or below 7,000 six months from now?
